0xngmi, a DefiLlama employee communicating under a pseudonym, has forked a new version of the blockchain data platform after accusing the company’s founders of launching a new token without the support of the DeFiLlama community.
“An attempt is underway to launch a token that does not represent us.” 0xngmi said on Twitter while confirming on-chain that his account was not hacked. “We don’t want to be associated with that.”
The DeFiLlama platform hinted at a token airdrop on Twitter yesterday after celebrating its aggregator platform reaching $5 billion in volume. The decision to introduce the token was made against the wishes of most of the team, according to two DefiLlama employees on Twitter. 0xngmi also added that the person pushing for the token’s introduction controlled the official website and Twitter account.
“Long story short, there was someone who wanted to launch a LLAMA token without the approval of the DeFiLlama team.” – He told Let’s seea contributor to Llama Corp. projects on Twitter.
0xngmi is one of the main contributors to the DefiLlama app on Github. Several other Github featured contributors shared 0xngmi’s message about the transition to the new platform.
DefiLlama’s parent company, Llama Corp., denied that a hostile takeover was taking place, instead suggesting that 0xngmi’s actions were independent.
The founders of DeFiLlama are looking for a solution
“Llama Corp. will continue to operate DefiLlama as it has for the past three years.” – is stated in the announcement sent by the company. “0xngmi’s actions are deplorable. We hope that we can solve things privately and peacefully”.
DefiLlama’s Telegram account also refers to 0xngmi and the rest of the team as having “deserted from them”.

The co-founders of DefiLlama, Charlie Watkins and Ben Hauser, have until now led the company rather in the background. Many other employees of the company also maintain their identities under pseudonyms. Some new details about the founders only came to light when the company recently launched a news portal called DLNews.
