Angelina Jolie makes a large donation to help children affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Oscar-winning actress gave No Kid Hungry $ 1 million to fund the charity’s efforts to offer free meals to children from low-income families during school closing.

“As of this week, over a billion children worldwide have stopped going to school for coronavirus closures,” said Jolie, a six-year-old mother. “Many children rely on the care and nutrition they receive during school, including nearly 22 million children in America who need food support. No Kid Hungry is making a determined effort to reach as many of these children as possible. “

No Kid Hungry has already provided $ 2 million to 78 organizations in 30 states to address emergencies to school districts, food banks, and community organizations that feed children nationwide. (In five states – Colorado, Hawaii, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia – parents / carers looking for children’s meals can send the word “FOOD” (or “COMIDA”) to 877-877 to send local emergency food distribution centers Find.)

Jolie, who has long been doing humanitarian work on behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and has the title of Special Representative, has also made a separate, undisclosed donation to the United Nations Refugee Agency to support education for the most vulnerable children and families affected by coronavirus internationally. She also works with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to establish a global COVID-19 education coalition to help children around the world continue their education during the pandemic.

Celebrities opened their checkbooks as the corona virus spread to the United States. Following in the footsteps of major donors Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Ciara and Russell Wilson, Kylie Jenner donated $ 1 million this week to help front-line coronavirus health workers, James Taylor and his staff wife gave $ 1 million to help a Boston hospital, and Arnold Schwarzenegger pledged $ 1 million to the Frontline Responders Fund.
