Most people who become infected with the new coronavirus, Sars-CoV-2, develop little or no symptoms. In some of the infected, however, the condition worsens so much after a few days that – despite the initially mild symptoms – they require hospital care. Such a worsening of the situation often occurs in the second week of illness. Can a drug prevent such a development? American researchers answered this question in a small but high quality pilot study.
