Antoinette in the Cévennes: what do the critics think?

ANTOINETTE IN THE CEVENNES – The Cannes 2020 film has won over the press. Critics’ opinion on Antoinette in the Cévennes.

[Mis à jour le 16 septembre 2020 à 10h08] Antoinette in the Cévennes should have been part of the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival, but could not benefit from the media coverage that the film should have enjoyed by parading on the Croisette. Never mind, Caroline Vignal’s latest achievement received the Cannes 2020 label and a critically acclaimed release. The press which was able to see it before its release this Wednesday, September 16 praised this dramatic and romantic comedy, which features a woman in a crazy and whimsical quest, first of her lover, but especially of herself. Antoinette in the Cévennes is “the most successful comedy of this season” according to Les Inrocks, “one of the most beautiful scenarios of this year 2020” for Première. For her part, Marie Claire salutes a “jewel of fun that touches the heart”, but without ever falling into ridicule or too full of sentimentality.
