Apple Announced Spatial Audio and Lossless Songs on Apple Music in MayHowever, both features have not yet been released to users. At the opening ceremony of WWDC 2021 today, the company confirmed that users would receive Apple Music updates today, but didn’t mention a specific time.
Fortunately, the day isn’t over yet, so it looks like there’s plenty of time left for Apple to deliver on its promise. The option to enable spatial audio in Dolby Atmos and Lossless Songs is finally visible to Apple Music subscribers using iOS 14.6 and iOS 15 beta. However, not everyone will see this option right now. This indicates that Apple is rolling out a slow roll with server-side changes.
Spatial Audio delivers immersive 3D sound through AirPods, Beats and other compatible headphones. Lossless, on the other hand, provides high-quality songs with very low compression, showing more detail when listened to with high-quality headphones or speakers. Apple does not charge additional fees to Apple Music subscribers for these features.
Within the Music app, users can view songs available for Spatial Audio and Lossless from Dolby Atmos. A new menu to enable and disable both options will also appear in the Music app settings.
