Em an official announcementa Apple revealed today that its longstanding service My Photo Stream (My Photo Stream) will be discontinued on the day July 26, 2023. The company encourages customers who currently use this feature to transition to icloud photos before the stipulated deadline.

That’s because a month before, in 26/6, the option to send new photos to My Photo Stream will be disabled. Still, users will be able to view and access their existing images on iCloud for the standard period of 30 days until the definitive termination of the service.

Public utility for iCloud users who use My Photo Stream (the original iCloud photo storage solution) instead of iCloud Photos: [ele] will be discontinued on July 26th and the upload will stop on June 26th.

Apple has emphasized that ending this feature will not result in the loss of photos. All stored images will be kept in their original format on at least one device, ensuring file security. To avoid inconvenience, Apple advises users to save photos in the library before the stipulated deadline.

Photos in My Photo Stream are already stored on at least one of your devices, so as long as you have the device with your originals in it, you won’t lose any photos as part of this process. If a photo you want isn’t already in your library on a specific iPhone, iPad, or Mac, be sure to save it to your library on that device.

To save images from My Photo Stream in the Photos app library, just open the app, access the service’s album, select the photos you want and use the Share option; then just go to “Save Image”. On Macs, the process is similar, you need to drag images from My Photo Stream to the Library.

My Photo Stream is a former free service that automatically uploads and stores the last 30 days’ photos (up to 1,000 images) to iCloud, allowing users to seamlessly access their images across multiple Apple devices.

As iCloud Photos largely replaced it, Apple, of course, decided to simplify its services and consolidate them into a single platform. The latest feature is compatible with iPhones and iPads running iOS 8.3 or later, as well as Macs running OS X Yosemite or later.
