Although Samsung has already presented its smart ring at the last Galaxy Unpacked, Those from Cupertino have not yet given strong signals of wanting to launch their own in the short term.Patents on the Apple Ring come and go and today it has been revealed that A new patent has been granted related capable of controlling the Apple Vision Pro. Are we closer to seeing Apple’s smart ring?
A smart ring to monitor health and control other Apple devices
The latest patent discovered by Patently Apple describes a device that “operates independently and performs health monitoring operations”This data may or may not be shared with other devices, most likely with the iPhone for monitoring purposes or with devices belonging to a doctor treating a patient for certain conditions.
What is striking is that The system implemented in the ring could collect information from the user himself and that in turn would give him the power to control the operation of one or more devices. The patent cites the following example:
A user may provide input to a device that causes one or more additional devices to perform particular actions(…). Provide touch, gesture, force, or button press input with a device that is used to control content displayed on a screen(…).
Finally, The patent emphasizes an illustration of a head-mounted deviceThis means that the ring could be used and connected to Apple glasses or any helmet or case that is designed for the user’s head.
Apple’s ring would not only be focused on health
Apple may have changed the focus of its smart ring a bit. According to the patent, the ring would allow for more precise control of what a user does. For example, if it incorporates a GPS, it would be possible to know the user’s three-dimensional position within a place, as well as their orientation and movement.
The patent would also open up the possibility that Apple is looking to innovate the devices we could wear on our heads. Considering that Apple Vision Pro is one of the brand’s most expensive product lines, why not consider an initial line of affordable products with cutting-edge technology?
As indicated Ben Lovejoy the 9to5Macif Apple decides to launch smart glasses with less technology than Apple Vision Pro, the smart ring would give information about the gestures that a user makes without as many cameras as is the case with the latest innovative product from Cupertino. We hope that in the rest of what remains of 2024 we will be able to have more information about this project that could be striking for some users.
