Are Bayern dealing with the DFB star?

According to current media reports, Ilkay Gündogan could leave Manchester City in the summer. It is unclear where the 31-year-old midfielder will go. Are Munich dealing with the German international?

The transfer planning at Bayern is in full swing and the Munich team is currently associated with a large number of players. One thing is clear: Bayern are not only looking for a successor to Robert Lewandowski, they also seem to want to sign another player in midfield alongside Ryan Gravenberch. In this context, the name Ilkay Gündogan could also play a role on Säbener Straße. As reported by the Daily Mailthe 31-year-old faces a farewell to the Sky Blues at the end of the season.

“German clubs are interested in Gündogan”

As transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports, in addition to FC Barcelona and Arsenal, several German clubs are also interested in the central midfielder.

One thing is clear: too many clubs are certainly out of the question for the ManCity star. In addition to Bayern, a return to BVB does not appear to be out of the question. Dortmund is looking for a successor to Axel Witsel.

Gündogan’s contract with the English champions expires in just under 12 months. His current market value is 35 million euros. According to media reports, Julian Nagelsmann is looking for a “pressing machine”, Konrad Laimer is said to be the desired transfer. But Gündogan also played extremely intensive pressing both under Jürgen Klopp in Dortmund and under Pep Guardiola in Manchester and should therefore also fit into the requirements profile of Munich.

Gündogan scores with a lot of (international) experience

In addition, the DFB star is extremely strong with the ball at his feet and can put his teammates in the limelight in a profitable way. International experience also speaks for Gündogan. The ex-Dortmunder has already played more than 70 games in the Champions League and would undoubtedly be an ad hoc reinforcement.

So far there are no concrete signs that Bayern are dealing with Gündogan. If this actually ends up on the transfer market in the summer, this could become an option for Munich.
