Argentinian World Cup hero (1978) Leopoldo Luque passed away | Football

Luque was Argentina’s basic player during the 1978 World Cup. The mustachioed striker scored during the final round in his own country against Hungary (2-1) and scored twice against Peru (6-0).

He also appeared at the kick-off for the final against the Dutch national team. Argentina won 3-1, after a tie after regular time (1-1). Mario Kempes scored twice for the Argentines. Dick Nanninga equalized for Orange, who saw Rob Rensenbrink hit the post shortly afterwards.
