2:3! Liverpool bankruptcy at Arsenal |
Klopp completely loses the connection
Liverpool not going up! At leaders Arsenal, the team coached by Jürgen Klopp (55) shows a lot of morale, but still loses 2-3.
▶ Arsenal are already 1-0 up after 58 seconds. Two quick passes undermine the Liverpool defense and Martinelli takes the lead early on. The Brazilian’s third goal this season.
The Klopp troops were then shocked, almost conceded the second goal through Xhaka, but keeper Alisson saved the Reds (12th).
And Liverpool? There will also be opportunities afterwards. First Darwin misses (26th), then the Uruguay striker scores his goal.
▶ 34 mins: A Diaz cross sinks Darwin from six yards out to equalize 1-1. The relief can be clearly seen in the 75 million new signing when he celebrates a goal.
▶ But Arsenal strikes back. In injury time in the 1st half, Saka completed a counterattack to give the Gunners a 2-1 lead (45+5).
Arsenal got off to a better start after the break. The Londoners seem more grippy, start with enormous pressure – but Liverpool scores the goal: Firmino is released wonderfully and makes it 2: 2 (53rd).
Huge shock then in the 58th minute: Jesus gets Tsimikas’ elbow, remains motionless at first, but is then able to continue playing.
▶ Now it’s Arsenal’s turn again. After a foul by Thiago on Jesus, there is a penalty after VAR notice. The formation of a pack follows and then the winning goal: Saka converts safely to 3:2 (76th). It’s the final score in a turbulent game.
Liverpool are now 14 points behind leaders Arsenal and are only 10th in the Premier League.
