Under the new rules, citizens will have to wear masks in crowded places outdoors, including in markets and shopping streets, said Prime Minister Sofia Wilmes.
These measures are being implemented in response to the alarming increase in new infections.
The rules stipulate that visitors to restaurants and bars will have to leave their contact information so that they can be tracked and informed in the event of an outbreak, reports the news agency “Belga”.
Stores that operate late at night will have to close at 10pm to prevent effort.
Existing rules requiring citizens to limit their contacts to 15 people per week will remain in place for the time being.
In Belgium, last week saw an increase in new infections, averaging 193 days per day over the last seven days.
In a country with a population of 11 million, 360 new infections were confirmed on Monday.
“We won the first battle, but the fight against the coronavirus is definitely not over,” Vilmes said.
