After nearly ten months of debates and one hundred and forty-eight days of hearings, the special assize court of Paris must deliver its verdict, Wednesday June 29, in this historic trial of the attacks who, on November 13, 2015, caused 130 deaths in Paris and Saint-Denis.

Out of twenty defendants tried in this trial, fourteen were present in court. The latter rose in turn, on Monday, on the last day of the hearing, to repeat their « regrets » or « excuses » et “condolences” to the victims and thank their lawyers. “I trust justice”, “I expect a lot from your verdict”also said several of them.

  • The life sentence required against five of the twenty defendants

Next to Salah Abdeslamthe only surviving member of the commandos, are also tried Mohamed Abrini, who gave up at the last moment to blow himself up, Osama Krayem et Sofien Ayariof the “high level members” of the jihadist cell suspected of having wanted to carry out an attack at Amsterdam airport on November 13, 2015. Mohamed Bakkali is accused of having rented hideouts in Brussels to house the jihadists and of having taken some of them there.

Against these five defendants, the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) requested life imprisonment, accompanied by an incompressible security period for Mr. Abdeslam, a security period of twenty-two years for MM. Abrini and Bakkali, and thirty years for MM. Krayem and Ayari.

  • From five to twenty years in prison required against the “operatives”

Also judged are “upset operational”, Adel Haddadi et Muhammad Usman |, who, having left Syria, were unable to reach Europe in time to take part in the attacks. The Advocate General requested for each a twenty-year prison sentence accompanied by a two-thirds security period.

appeared free Hamza Attou, Ali Oulkadi et Abdellah Chouaa. All three from the Brussels municipality of Molenbeek, the first two are on trial for having helped Salah Abdeslam to flee after the attacks. The prosecution has called for sentences ranging from five to six years in prison with “warrant of deposit” for MM. Chouaa and Attou.

Six defendants are tried in their absence. Ahmed Dahmani, a friend of Salah Abdeslam, is serving a prison sentence for terrorism in Turkey and the five others, members of the hierarchy of the Islamic State (IS) organization, are presumed dead in the Iraqi-Syrian zone. Among them, the Belgian Oussama Atarthe sponsor of the operation, Omar Darifan explosives expert, or the Clain brothersIS propaganda executives and authors of the audio message claiming the attacks of November 13.
