Aston Martin remains true to itself. A roadster or convertible is inextricably linked to the British car manufacturer. These include classics such as the DB 6 Cabrio, with which Prince William (37) and his newlywed wife Kate (38) drove through London after their dream wedding in April 2011.
It is therefore not surprising that the British continue to rely on it. Two years after the Vantage Coupé, they are now topping up the roadster – just in time for the 70th anniversary of the Vantage series. As usual, the technical data promise a lot of dynamism: Under the long bonnet, a V8 biturbo with 510 hp (375 kW) and 685 Nm is drumming. The two-seater reaches 100 km / h after 3.8 seconds and is capable of speeds of up to 306 km / h.
Fresh air is so easy
That doesn’t make it the fastest roadster in the world. But he should have the nose in front of the hood. The soft top opens and closes in less than seven seconds, making the open Vantage, according to Aston Martin, the fastest fully automatic convertible roof on the market. The convertible top mechanism works up to 50 km / h.
Hungry for curves
His ability in corners is equally important. The extra bacon of 60 kilograms can be a hindrance for the whole convertible technology. Therefore, the technicians are said to have optimized the body. For this purpose, variable dampers, electronic limited slip differential and torque vectoring have been specially coordinated for the roadster. The Aston comes with 8-speed automatic as standard, but there is also an optional 7-speed manual transmission on request.
The open roadster will roll into Switzerland from the second quarter. The prices start at 162,900 francs.
