Sana, Jan 21 (EFE) .- At least 25 people died and 120 are injured in a bombing attributed to the military coalition led by Saudi Arabia against a detention center located in Saada, a stronghold of the Houthi rebels in northern Yemen, A health source informed Efe.
The source said on condition of anonymity that the injured have been taken to hospital after the attack that took place on Thursday night against a two-story building located in the city of Saada, capital of the province of the same name.
Residents of the city told Efe that planes from the Arab coalition carried out three consecutive bombings, but the alliance led by Riyadh has not confirmed this military action, although others launched last night against the city of Al Hudeida, in southwestern Yemen.
The injured have been transferred to two main hospitals in Saada, the Al Salam hospital and the Republican hospital, while the search for survivors and bodies continues under the rubble of the building, whose roof collapsed.
The victims are mainly detained in that center, where they remained awaiting trial, many of them accused of drug trafficking across Yemen’s border with Saudi Arabia or African migrants who also try to reach the neighboring country illegally.
The province of Saada borders Saudi Arabia and is one of the main strongholds of the Shiite rebels, who from there launch missile and drone attacks against the kingdom, which in turn operates in Yemeni territory with fighter-bombers.
Arab coalition planes have launched a bombing campaign in Yemen this week, in response to two Houthi drone attacks on the United Arab Emirates (also a member of the military alliance), causing dozens of casualties, according to figures provided by the insurgents.
