Atlanta defeats TFC and moves up the standings

Atlanta United took advantage of their visit to Ontario to defeat Toronto FC by a 2-0 score on Saturday at BMO Field.

The visitors first shook the ropes in stoppage time in the first half. Luiz Araujo then completed a beautiful passing game initiated by Ezequiel Barco and George Bello.

Marcelino Moreno sealed the outcome of the match, late in stoppage time in the second half, following an individual effort.

At the other end of the field, Brad Guzan saw 15 balls sent in his direction, but he only had to block the four on target to sign the shutout.

By virtue of their victory, along with the other results of the day, the Georgia team climbed to fifth place in the Eastern Conference, with a harvest of 45 points in 29 matches.

A draw between Nashville and DC United

At Audi Field in Washington, neither DC United nor Nashville SC were able to find the back of the net, so both teams played a 0-0 draw.

In the home side’s camp, goaltender Bill Hamid only had to block the two shots aimed at his net to sign the shutout, while visitors’ Joe Willis made five saves to accomplish the feat.

The formation of the American national capital has 41 points in 29 games, the same as CF Montreal, but DC United holds the tiebreaker and thus occupies the sixth position in the East, while the Montreal formation holds the seventh and last position giving access to the playoffs.

Orlando obtains a favorable result

At TQL Stadium in Ohio, Orlando City SC took advantage of playing against Major League Soccer’s worst team, FC Cincinnati, to take a 1-0 win.

Brazil’s Urso Junior was the only goal scorer in the 13th minute. He took advantage of a short stint from his Brazilian compatriot, Ruan, to shoot a ball from outside the penalty area.

Winners’ keeper Pedro Gallese then closed the door to crowd favorites, repelling all three shots sent towards him.

The Florida team is fourth in the East, with 45 points in 29 games.
