ATP London Masters: Russian Medvedev crowned by beating Thiem

Daniil Medvedev (world number 4) won the first Masters of his career at 24. Sunday in London, he dominated the Austrian Dominic Thiem (N.3), already a finalist last year. A victory obtained in three sets (4-6, 7-6 (7/2), 6-4), at the end of the longest final in the history of the tournament since it was played in three winning sets ( 2h42).

This victory comes as a surprise for this young player, revelation of the circuit for more than a year now, and this week knocker of Djokovic in pool and then Nadal in the semi-final. “I hope I win a few games in London. It’s hard to have other goals when you play three top 8 or top 10 in your group… ”, he declared before the start of the tournament. He did a lot more than that.
