Austin: Bastianini wins, Marc Márquez phenomenal / MotoGP

Ducati rider Enea Bastianini impressed with his second win of the season at the GP in Texas. The Gresini rider got the better of Alex Rins (Suzuki) and Ducati rider Jack Miller. Marc Márquez delivered a comeback.

A wild ride in Texas. Sunday’s MotoGP race at the Circuit of the Americas started with a moment of shock for Honda factory rider Marc Márquez. The Spaniard almost stalled at the start and fell back to last place, the engine barely revving up. He then ensured a spectacular catch-up race that ended in 6th place.

Enea Bastianini drove a sparkling clean race and the Italian ultimately clinched his second win of the season at the 5.5km circuit. Behind the Italian, Alex Rins (Suzuki) overtook Ducati rider Jack Miller on the final lap. The Spaniard is on the podium for the second time in a row. Jorge Martin started from pole position, couldn’t keep up the pace and ended up in 8th place.

The voices of the top 3
Enea Bastianini (1.), Gresini Racing MotoGP:

«A fantastic day. The race was really tough, Miller had a very strong pace in the first part. Halfway through the race I noticed that Rins was trying to pass me, so I gave it my all to get in front. The front tire is already overheating. In the end I fought like a bastard and I won. It’s incredible to win in America and now it’s time for a hamburger.”

Alex Rins (2.), Team Suzuki Ecstar:

“I feel super, super good. I want to thank all the people, this second place is for the people of Ukraine and for everyone who is suffering from Covid. We were incredibly quick in Sector 1, which helped me to iron out the weak spots in acceleration. We had a clean fight with Jack, that was awesome. Thanks very much!”

Jack Miller (3.), Ducati Lenovo Team:

«I drove a fantastic race and I did my best. Then Enea caught me and I made a mistake, so Alex got a chance at the end. I didn’t stand a chance against him in the last lap. I want to thank all the fans, it was great.”
