Sydney: Pat Cummins is Australia’s Test captain. The vice-captain is Steve Smith. Cummins became Australia’s first Test captain since 1956.
Cummins’ first challenge is to lead Australia in the Ashes. The Ashes series starts on December 8. Cummins will take over the reins of the team after Payne resigned as captain.
In 1956, Ray Lindwall led Australia to a match. Medium pace all-rounders Monty Noble and Jack Ryder came to captain Australia in the 1900s. And now fast bowler Pat Cummins. Cummins is Australia’s 47th Test captain.
In 2011 Test debut
Cummins was named vice-captain 12 months ago. This is Smith’s first official position in Australian cricket since being sent off in 2018. Smith will be the captain if Cummins loses matches here.
Cummins made his Test debut in 2011. Cummins was 18 when he made his debut. But Cummins had to wait until 2017 to play his second match. Injury was the main villain here. Since his return, Cummins has become Australia’s leading player in all three formats.
