AvtoVAZ again began equipping Granta and Niva Legend with the ERA-GLONASS emergency warning system. The production of such machines began on August 1, and from today they began to enter the distribution network. AvtoVAZ stated that all currently produced versions of Granta and Niva are equipped with Era, although, judging by the price lists, the simplest Granta performed by Classic does not yet have an ERA-GLONASS unit. The recommended prices have not changed.
However, if Lada used to have an automatic emergency call system, now Grants and Niva are equipped with simplified electronics with manual activation: the call is made only by pressing the SOS button in the cabin. The fact is that an airbag is necessary for an automatic call: its operation becomes a trigger for an SOS signal. In particular, it was precisely for this that the notorious side cushion security. However, airbags have not yet returned to the list of equipment for Granta and Niva, so the automatic mode of the warning system does not work.
Last week, the president of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that the production of Grants with an airbag will begin before the end of August: the necessary stock of components at the plant has already been formed. The company will publish information on configurations and prices later. It will take longer to wait for the return of ABS: the search for suppliers and the localization of blocks require more time, so AvtoVAZ expects to resolve this issue only by next year. And the return of the stabilization system is expected even later.
