RB Leipzig has followed up in the race for the Champions League spots. The Nagelsmann-Elf is again third after the sovereign victory in Cologne. Gladbach and Leverkusen follow with two points less.

With another win over the former boss, Julian Nagelsmann won back the Champions League spot with RB Leipzig after only 29 hours.

The fall champion, who has meanwhile slipped to fifth place, won 4-2 (2-1) at the end of the 29th match day at 1. FC Köln and improved again to third place. In the first leg, Nagelsmann’s Cologne coach Markus Gisdol, under whom he was once an assistant in Hoffenheim, spoiled the debut at FC with a 4: 1.

The outsider Cologne had taken an early lead through Jhon Cordoba, but Patrik Schick, Christopher Nkunku, Timo Werner and Dani Olmo turned the game for Leipzig until the middle of the second half. Anthony Modeste had achieved the interim 2: 3 (55th). The Swiss keeper Yvon Mvogo followed the game from Leipzig’s substitute bank.

Cologne, on the other hand, is waiting for the first win in a ghost game even after the fifth game. The relegation should still be secured in view of the seven point lead in 16th place, but the short dream of Europe is now over eight points behind in seventh place.
