Bad surprise for several motorists when going to the Dats24 petrol pump: “Don’t panic”

It is several service stations in the north of the country, especially in Ghent, which have mainly been affected, as reported by our colleagues from Laatste Nieuws. But the situation also took place elsewhere in Belgium.

Because this Sunday, at the Dats24 pump located on the Drongensesteenweg in Ghent, several motorists had a very bad surprise. Impossible for them to refuel or even to pay the slightest liter of Euro95. Misunderstanding reigned for a long time because no poster indicated this “sold-out”.

“I tried all four push-ups. None worked”, confides a young woman to our Flemish colleagues. If she had inserted her card into the terminal and authorized the payment, she still could not fill her tank. “There is no money coming out of my account, but I have no gas…”

The reason for this temporary shortage? Prices dropping sharply at the pump. As a result, motorists are rushing to refuel at a lower cost, fearing a new outbreak. In this service station, the Euro95 was for example at 1.72 euro/litre. And if some smart guys wanted to refuel elsewhere in the region, it might not bear fruit.

Indeed, in other pumps, several fuels were also out of stock and so you had to be lucky to find the right place. According to the brands, it was sometimes diesel, sometimes gasoline that was missing.

For its part, and following the events, Dats24 (which belongs to the Colruyt group) assured that we should not panic.

Gasoline and diesel a bit cheaper on Saturday, heating oil up

Gasoline and diesel were cheaper on Saturday. This drop is a consequence of the lowering of excise duties decided by the government to help consumers. The price of heating oil, on the other hand, has increased.

For a liter of 95 petrol (E10), the maximum price is 1.776 euros, down 17.5 cents per litre. For gasoline 98 (E5), the drop is similar with a maximum price of 1.848 per litre. Finally, the maximum price per liter of diesel is 1.904 euros (-17.5 cents).

Heating oil is more expensive. For orders of more than 2,000 liters, the increase is 13.04 cents to 1.1562 euros per liter.
