Here are five key points from the monetary statistics for the month of April 2021, made public on Friday by Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM):
1- The annual growth rate of the monetary aggregate M3, which represents the money supply, stood at 7.5% in April against 7.6% a month earlier;
2- On a monthly basis, the M3 aggregate recorded an increase of 0.5% to stand at MAD 1,494.2 billion;
3- Bank credit to the non-financial sector grew year-on-year by 2.9% after 3.2% in March 2021;
4- Loans to private non-financial corporations increased by 2.1% in April after 3.1% last March, and loans to households grew by 4.9% against 4.2%;
5- The annual growth rate of bad debts stood at 11.8% after 12.9% in March. Under these conditions, the rate of bad debts stood at 8.6%.
