Since 2003, Nymburk has not won the cup only in 2006, when Mlékárna Kunín triumphed, and in 2015 and 2016, when it did not participate. After another triumph, the 16-time league champion, in contrast to Saturday’s slower start for a clear victory against Hradec Králové, stepped 103: 64 vigorously and led 15: 3 in the 6th minute thanks to an 11-point line.

In the second quarter, Kolín managed to get from a loss of 13 points to only six thanks to threesomes Adam Číža and Filip Novotný, but the favorite did not allow a momentary drama. This was also indicated by Petr Benda, a 38-year-old pivot who improved his collection of 12 league titles by the same number of cup triumphs.

A nine-point line at the turn of the first and second halves sent Nymburk to a seventeen-point lead and the rest of the match was just a matter of scores. The best scorer of the match was with 25 points the captain of the sovereign of the domestic scene Vojtěch Hruban, who was declared the most useful player of the tournament. Adam Číž scored 20 points for the losers.

Captain Ondřej Peterka from Hradec Králové takes over the cup for third place from the remote-controlled model.

Slovak pivot Peter Sedmák contributed 24 points to Hradec Králové’s bronze, while quarterback Tomáš Vyoral had the same balance. An even battle for third place took place throughout the match. The maximum difference in the score was nine points, which Beksa from Pardubice gained at the beginning of the second quarter thanks to a ten-point line. Filip Halada decided the victory of Hradec Králové in a tug-of-war 94 seconds before the end with a basket, to which Pardubice could not react until the end of the match.

The winner was a double double Serbian quarterback Peda Stamenkovič and Serbian winger Nemanja Barač. Stamenkovic added 13 assists to 15 points and Barač recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds.

“It’s wonderful. I had similar feelings when we advanced from the first league to the NBL, where it was maybe a little stronger. Now we beat again in the Pardubice derby, which is a very good and well-run team, and the regional rivalry with it will be bigger again. That’s why I’m very happy, nobody will take it from us anymore, “said Hradec coach Lubomír Peterka.

“The ending was, of course, about luck, we could have done something better there, but it turned out the way it did, and I’m happy for that. The saved forces from the previous course of the tournament helped us. So I reduced it to seven people, but we had harder matches we have to play in a narrower rotation and it paid off. In the end, it turned out that Barač’s injury from the semifinals was not so serious, “added Peterka.
