Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin instructed report to him on the progress of the verification of the circumstances of the fire on the freezing trawler Sunfish in the Sea of Okhotsk. The ship caught fire 300 km from the village of Ust-Khairyuzovo, Kamchatka Territory.
Nobody was hurt in the fire. The fire was put out by the crew. The audit is carried out by the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the TFR. The Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office organized its own check.
The Sakhalin Marine Rescue Coordination Sub-Center reported that the fire started from the cabin. After that, the fire spread to the upper deck. The shipowner LLC “Mercury” reported TASSthat there is no serious damage, the equipment works. The trawler will go to Vladivostok, where the fire damage will be assessed.
The Sunfish crew consists of 104 people. The ship is assigned to the port of Nevelsk on Sakhalin, it is engaged in the extraction of herring.
