Bayern prevail against Frankfurt to have a four point lead

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich resisted a setback by Eintracht Frankfurt in the second half and took a 5-2 win behind closed doors on Saturday before a top fight in Dortmund in the middle of the week.

Goals from Leon Goretzka, top scorer in the league, Robert Lewandowski, and Thomas Müller gave Bayern a 3-0 lead before Frankfurt scored against the hosts after the break.

Frankfurt defender Martin Hinteregger scored two quick goals before Bayern youth Alphonso Davies calmed Bayern’s nerves 4-2 in the Allianz Arena.

Hinteregger then did an undesirable hat-trick by turning a shot by Serge Gnabry into his own net and finishing it 5-2 in 74 minutes.

The victory restores Bayern’s four-point lead over second-placed Dortmund, who will host the defending champion on Tuesday.
