Become aware of our water footprint

This March 22 commemorates the world water day. Opportunity to make us aware that “we all have the power to take care of the planet”.

A person requires between 50 and 100 liters of water each day, according to information from the World Health Organization -WHO-, to guarantee the coverage of their basic needs.

Water is our vital resource. We are not aware, but decisions about how to eat, move, buy, use, travel and live can contribute to human life lasting in conditions of well-being.

For example, an average shower can last 4 minutes, in which time about 38 liters of water can be used. Does it seem like a lot or a little? It really is a considerable number, and one that you can become aware of in order to try to reduce it.

The largest generation of CO2 in Colombia and Antioquia is associated with deforestation.

Unfortunately, Antioquia is one of the main emitters of Greenhouse Gases -GHG- in Colombia. In the department, 27 million tons of CO2 are emitted per year, and only 3 million tons per year are absorbed, that is, there is a negative deficit of 24 million tons of C02 per year.

These polluting gases of anthropogenic origin are affecting the entire planet including the seas, which provide 50% of the oxygen we breathe. According to the UN, even in the depths, the lack of oxygen is already harming marine biodiversity.
