This Wednesday morning at 7.50 a.m., during the political interview with Bel RTL, journalist Antonio Solimando received Rachid Madrane (PS), the President of the Brussels Parliament. The two men notably addressed the annual remuneration of the socialist.
To the clear question of “How much do you earn each month?” “, Rachid Madrane gave this answer: “Today, what is declared is a little more than 200,000 € gross per year. »
Antonio Solimando did not fail to raise this approximation because Het Laatste Nieuws revealed that his annual salary was actually €243,000 gross per year. “Yes, but everything is put, including the tax-exempt part, which is 28%”, explains the socialist. “Yes, we touch them but we give back to the party, we pay taxes… In the end, what is left is obviously not this amount. »
More than the prime minister
If the president argues that this should not be taken into account because it includes retrocession to the party or even taxes – even if we are talking in gross amounts – Rachid Madrane earns €243,000 gross per year. This means that he earns more than our Prime Minister, Alexander de Croo, who himself earns €240,000 gross per year. Which also makes him the highest paid Belgian politician.
“There is probably the question of wage indexation,” he points out again. Before continuing: “I will take off my president’s hat. At the PS, what do we want? Maximum harmonization. It is normal for the legislature to be at least one euro higher than the chief executive. That is what we want in all assemblies. If we tend towards that, I am completely in favor… ”
