Seven public and three private hospitals are the most successful in the fight against covid-19. These are four hospitals of the Federal Health Secretariat (Ssa), one of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), one of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), one state and three of the private sector, in which the index of SARS-CoV-2 fatality is below the national average, which is 10 percent.
With the aim of optimizing human, material and financial resources to provide optimal and effective care in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, medical units throughout the country carried out a hospital reconversion with which they adapted their capacity and services for the care of patients with suspected or positive covid diagnoses.
Via transparency MILENIO obtained a database from the Ssa, according to which until September 9, the 10 hospitals with the best care are in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Yucatán, Chiapas, Sonora and Baja California Sur.
In the first place, the General Hospital Agustín O’Haran, of the Ssa, in Mérida, Yucatán stands out. In the institution, 6 thousand three people with suspicious symptoms of coronavirus were treated, of which 4 thousand 211 obtained a positive result and 60 died, which represents a fatality of 1.4 percent.
Also in Mérida is the Regional Hospital of High Specialty of the Yucatan Peninsula, another public institution that belongs to the Ssa, where the death of 5 percent of the patients was reported, that is, of the 686 confirmed cases, 34 died of the disease.
In Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the Hospital Chiapas Nos Une Dr. Jesús Gilberto Gómez Maza, of the Ssa, registered a fatality rate of 2.6 percent, when reporting the contagion of one thousand 58 patients, of which 11 female and 17 male deaths were reported .
Another Ssa center with success in treating the pandemic is the Dr. Ernesto Ramos Bours General State Hospital, in Hermosillo, Sonora, with a 4 percent fatality rate. It was specified that 199 patients lost their lives, of the 4,989 positive cases that this hospital treated in its facilities.
Of the network of Sonoran state hospitals that receive covid patients, the Dr. Ignacio Chávez Medical Center also stands out, which received 2,193 patients and registered the death of 68 women and 101 men, equivalent to a fatality of 7.7 percent.
With 8.2 percent mortality from covid is the General Hospital of Zone 1 of La Paz, Baja California Sur. In the hospital, an accumulated 1,386 confirmed patients were treated and 113 died as a result of the virus.
As part of the actions of the federal and local government to face the pandemic, the Naval Medical Center, located in the Coyoacán mayor’s office in Mexico City, opened its doors to beneficiaries and the civilian population who required medical attention in its 140 adapted beds. for patient care during the health emergency.
In the hospital, more than 2,500 people with symptoms were treated, of which 1,789 obtained a positive diagnosis and the death of 133 patients was registered; in other words, it has a fatality rate of 7.4 percent.
In the case of private health institutions, the Hospital San Angel Inn University in Mexico City stands out, with a fatal rate of 6.2 percent, because of the 611 patients who came to its facilities for medical attention, 38 died.
Of the Hospital Angeles chain, the Pedregal facilities, in the country’s capital, and Lomas, in the State of Mexico, stand out.
In the case of Hospital Ángeles Pedregal, the Ssa reports that it had a mortality rate of 0.1 percent, losing one patient of the 701 patients treated. While in his Lomas hospital a fatality of 1.9 percent was registered, due to the death of 22 of its 1,165 inmates.
They sell the stolen vaccine on the web
The Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) warned that the stolen Vaxigripf.f vaccine, manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur, is sold through the internet and on social networks, representing a health risk. On October 16, Cofepris launched a health alert on the theft to the IMSS of 10 thousand 100 doses of influenza vaccine, for the exclusive use of the health sector.
Authorities ask to report
The health authorities called on the population not to buy the vaccine through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any website, since it represents a risk and the safety and efficacy of the product is not guaranteed. They asked that if the stolen remedy is identified, a complaint be made on the website https://www.gob.mx/cofepris/acciones-y-programas/denuncias-sanitarias.
