Iron and green tea

It is good to drink green tea, but it should be noted that it washes away iron supplements, so Dr. Cooperman recommends separating them for a few hours.

Iron and antibiotics

If a person takes antibiotics — especially those of the tetracycline family — along with iron supplements, the antibiotics may not work as well as they should. As such, it is advised not to combine them or take them at separate times.

Fish oil and ginkgo biloba

Omega-3 fish oil supplements, which are widely touted to calm inflammation and improve mood, aren’t as beneficial if combined with other herbs such as ginkgo or garlic.

Dr. Cooperman says that taking omega-3 supplements with garlic or ginkgo can cause uncontrollable bleeding. So, for safety’s sake, it makes sense to split them up by at least two hours apart.

Melatonin and other calming herbs

Any herb or dietary supplement can have sedative properties and may lead to a negative effect on a person if taken in excess. Examples include the herbs melatonin, ashwagandha, kava, and St. John’s wort. “When combined with these herbs, they can cause a lot of sleepiness,” says Dr. Cooperman.

Vitamins A, D, E and K

If a person takes vitamin K with other fat-soluble vitamins – such as A, D or E, they may not be absorbed by the body as much as if they were taken at different times.

Dr. Cooperman advises, “If a multivitamin is being taken, there is no cause for concern, but if a person has a vitamin K deficiency and needs to take additional supplements, they should consider taking vitamin K two hours apart from other vitamin-soluble vitamins.” Fats”.
