Big change in all stores in Belgium with a consequence on the prices displayed!

The new regulations further protecting consumers from misleading discounts come into force this Saturday. Transposition of a European directive, it will also guarantee them better information by prohibiting false opinions (“reviews”, ratings from other consumers) and by introducing an obligation to provide information on sales platforms.

Ban artificial price increases

In concrete terms, the new regulations will make it possible in particular to avoid artificial price increases just before the sales period to announce particularly attractive reductions. Stores will have to mention the reference price, i.e. the lowest price during the previous 30 days, next to the sale price.

In terms of e-commerce, the protection of personal data will be increased.

Finally, fake reviews will be banned so that consumers are no longer deceived by misleading or manipulated ratings and recommendations.
