The basis for this expansion is the opening of a state-of-the-art production facility in Japan, operated by the parent company Big Daishowa Seiki Co., Ltd. The new facility covers 49,500 m2 and features an open floor plan design that uses as few supporting columns as possible to enable flexible production layout and adaptation to future market requirements. This is the company’s ninth production site in Japan.

“Our new plant is the most modern of its kind in the world for the production of tool holders,” says Christian David, Sales Manager at Big Daishowa Germany. “Thanks to complete automation – from cutting the raw material to storage – we will significantly increase our productivity and competitiveness.”
The plant is equipped with the latest machine tools and automation technologies, including 21 multitasking machines and 23 automatic lathes. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and robot systems optimize material handling, increase efficiency and ensure consistently high product quality. This high level of automation not only improves productivity but also increases process reliability.
In the facility’s Mega VIP Center, the manufacturer presents its innovations and commitment to technological progress.

The capacity can be doubled if required
The initial production target is 20,000 tool holders per month, with the capacity being able to double if necessary. This will bring Big Daishowa’s total production capacity to more than 100,000 tool holders per month, with a focus on precision tool holders in taper sizes 30 to 50.
Environmental sustainability is a key focus of the new facility. A central filter system recycles coolant throughout the production process, and advanced air purification systems capture and purify oil mist to ensure a clean and environmentally friendly working environment.
