German car manufacturer BMW unveiled the world’s first car capable of “changing its color”, at the Consumer Electronics Show “CES” in Las Vegas, USA.

Dubbed the BMW iXflow, the car uses “e-ink” technology, commonly found in e-readers, to transform the car’s exterior into a variety of gray and white patterns.

The car’s colors are controlled by a smartphone app, but in the future the changes will also be controlled by a button on the car’s dashboard, or perhaps even by hand gestures.

And although the car shown at CES can only change its color between gray and white, the technology will be expanded to include a range of colours, according to BMW.

Stella Clark confirms that the color change feature in the new car is useful in cases of changing weather. For example, on a hot, sunny day, you can switch to white to reflect sunlight, and on a cold day, you can switch to black to absorb heat and get heating.
