Boston Mayor Marty Walsh sent to CEO Sony Kenichiro Yoshide letter in which he asked him to reconsider the company’s decision to refuse to go to Pax east due to concerns about the health of its employees in light of the outbreak of coronavirus.
According to the politician, the situation is getting worse due to “harmful stereotypes” about Chinese citizens and general misinformation about the virus, which translates into rash decisions.
Therefore, the mayor asks Sony to come to PAX East after all, motivating his actions with “facts, not fears”, and also demonstrating power “in unity, not isolation”.
PAX East will be held from February 27 to March 1. Sony originally promised a playable demo. The Last of Us: Part IIwhich any visitor of the exhibition could try, however, due to fears after an outbreak of coronavirus, the company refused to risk the health of its employees. In addition, Sony will not go to the GDC 2020.
