Brawl at Dumas Jean-Joseph high school: young Taïna is brain dead

It was a medical team from the Fort-de-France University Hospital who announced the news to the father who came to his daughter’s bedside on the evening of Wednesday, November 23, 2022, as every day since the latter’s hospitalization. The 17-year-old high school student had been in a coma since last Monday (November 21, 2022), following a fight with one of her classmates from Dumas Jean-Joseph high school in Pointe des Nègres.

It is a sobbing father who, this Thursday, November 24, 2022, confirmed to us the brain death of his daughter Taïna.

The young high school student had been in a coma since her emergency hospitalization last Monday (November 21, 2022), following a fight with one of her classmates from Dumas Jean-Joseph high school in Pointe des Nègres.

Her brain is beyond repair…they won’t be able to resuscitate her. There are other tests to be done. I saw 3 doctors and a psychologist who took me aside to explain myself. But I have to understand what happened (…). Taina’s family and friends are devastated (…)

Antonio Saint-Aimé, father of Taïna
