A wide international welcome to Erdogan’s victory, and Putin describes him as a dear friend
The Turkish Elections Authority announced, in a press conference, on Sunday, that Recep Tayyip Erdogan won a third presidential term.
The head of the commission, Ahmet Yanar, confirmed Erdogan’s victory in the run-off with 52.14 percent of the vote, which is the official result of the election.
US President Joe Biden congratulated Erdogan on his re-election. “I look forward to continuing to work together as two NATO allies on bilateral issues and shared global challenges,” Biden said on Twitter.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to Turkish President Erdogan on his election as President of Turkey. According to what the Kremlin said in a statement, today, Sunday. And the congratulatory message read, “Dear Mr. Erdogan, my dear friend, please accept our congratulations on your re-election as president. The victory in the elections was a natural result of your selfless work as President of the Republic of Turkey, which is clear evidence of the support of the people Al-Turki for your efforts to enhance the sovereignty of the state and its independent foreign policy.
Putin also expressed appreciation for Erdogan’s contribution to strengthening relations between Russia and Turkey, noting that Russia attaches great importance to continuing the implementation of joint projects with Turkey, including the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant and Gas Center.
French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Erdogan on his re-election as president of Turkey on Sunday, saying that “France and Turkey have enormous challenges that they face together.”
Among these challenges, Macron referred on Twitter to “the return of peace in Europe and the future of our Euro-Atlantic and Mediterranean alliance,” adding, “With President Erdogan, whom I congratulate, we will continue to move forward.”
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak congratulated Turkish President Erdogan on his re-election Sunday, stressing the ongoing security cooperation between the two countries.
“I congratulate (President Erdogan). I look forward to continuing the strong cooperation between our two countries, from growing trade to addressing security threats as NATO allies,” Sunak said on Twitter.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also congratulated Turkish leader Erdogan on his victory in the second round of the presidential elections on Sunday, praising the two countries’ relationship as “close partners and allies.”
“I congratulate President Erdogan. Together we want to advance our common agenda with new momentum,” Scholz said on Twitter.
Also, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Sunday congratulated Erdogan on his re-election as president of Turkey, expressing his hope for “strengthening” relations between the two countries and “cooperating for the security and stability” of Europe.
“We hope to further strengthen the strategic partnership for the benefit of our two countries, as well as strengthen our cooperation for the security and stability of Europe,” Zelensky said on Twitter.
European Council President Charles Michel congratulated Turkish President Erdogan on his victory in the run-off of the Turkish presidential elections today, Sunday.
“Congratulations to you, Erdogan, on your re-election as President of Turkey,” Michel said on Twitter. “I look forward to working with you again to deepen EU-Turkey relations in the coming years.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also expressed her desire to “further develop relations between the EU and Turkey.”
In addition, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a tweet: “I look forward to continuing our work and preparing for the NATO summit in Vilnius in July.”
For his part, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Sunday congratulated his Turkish counterpart Erdogan on his re-election, wishing him a “good period with a lot of work” for the Turkish people.
Lula wrote on Twitter that Erdogan can “count on Brazil’s partnership in international cooperation for peace, in the fight against poverty, and for development (around) the world.”
Today, Sunday, Emirati President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed congratulated Turkish President Erdogan on his victory in the presidential elections.
The UAE president said via Twitter that he is looking forward to consolidating the “strategic” partnership with Erdogan and working for peace and stability in the region.
The Emirates News Agency stated that the country’s two vice presidents, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also congratulated the Turkish president on his victory in the presidential run-off.
