Brugge does not do better than sharing at home against OHL (1-1)

The Belgian champions could not do better than a draw, 1-1, against a courageous OHL team. The goals were scored by Özkacar (42nd) and Mata (77th). Bruges remains 1st in the standings but its place is threatened by the Union. After a first quarter of an hour of observation, Sowah opened the hostilities by unleashing a cross strike from 20 meters which licked the left post of Romo (14th). Mercier responded with an individual action against 4 Bruges defenders but his ladle from outside the area went over the goal of Mignolet (17th). Lang and de Ketelaere then combined in small spaces to reach the edge of the goal but the sending of the Bruges striker was completely unscrewed and went into touch (27 ‘).

Isolated in the rectangle, Rits was found by de Ketelaere after a small festival against Dewaest, but his shot went straight to the goalkeeper (32nd). Before the break, while Louvain was under pressure from Bruges, Mercier dropped the ball on the head of Özkacar who, free of any marking and against all expectations, sent the ball into the goal of Mignolet (0-1, 42nd).

Stunned but not defeated, FCB sought to stifle OHL in the second half to return to the score. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Nsoki cut through the Leuven defense and centered back towards Vanaken, whose shipment flew into the stands (66th). A few minutes later, Romo, author of many saves, quickly folded on the strike of Rits after a tumble of Lang (73rd).

The solution finally came from Mata’s left foot who sent the ball into the small side of Romo’s goal to fully revive the end of the match (1-1, 77th). Maertens, in the moments that followed, found the post of Mignolet (79th), without cooling the ardor of Bruges. The Blauw’s last assaults on Zwart were nonetheless to prove fruitless, and Louvain resisted to hang the draw among the defending champions.

In the standings, it is the status quo. Brugge remains in 1st position with 18 points in 9 games, but could be overtaken by the Union which receives Antwerp on Sunday. OHL remains 17th with 8 points, tied with 3 other teams.
