Bruno Colmant officially bows out and announces his departure from Degroof Petercam. After leaving the general management of the group in June 2021, he will this time take a definitive leave with “the feeling of accomplishment”, he explained on the sidelines of the announcement of the company’s results.
Arrived in 2015 at Degroof Petercam, he succeeded in 2019 to Philippe Masset at the head of the group. This appointment followed an unsatisfactory audit by the National Bank of Belgium on the bank’s performance in terms of anti-money laundering procedures. “I worked for 2.5 years on the remediation of the bank with a formidable team in the midst of a pandemic. I sold the Swiss and Spanish activities and remodeled the IT system. Afterwards, my strong point is not in the ‘operational, but rather in the strategy’he commented.
Soon to be 61 years old, the man wishes “se réinventer” and wishes to devote himself to his consultancy activities but also to research and writing.
He will be replaced by Sabine Caudron as Managing Director. With a solid experience of 30 years in the sector, in particular through an 18-year stint at BNP Paribas Fortis Belgium, she declared to be “looking forward to continuing to implement the strategy with the current team”.
Degroof Petercam also reported on Thursday a net profit of 47.6 million euros in 2021, up from the 40.1 million euros earned in 2020. The total net assets of customers is also up by 15% to 86 billion euros (75 billion at the end of 2020) while total net revenues reached 545.7 million euros in 2021 (+16%).
