Buckingham prepares for the series “Harry & Meghan” on Netflix

Londres (CNN) — The new documentary series The six-part The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be released on Netflix on Thursday.

The show that everyone seems to be talking about will be released in two parts, each consisting of three episodes. The first three arrive Thursday at 3 am ET (8 am GMT), with the rest arriving a week later on December 15.

It is not clear at this time if it will be as controversial as the Oprah interview with the couple, but it will inevitably cause some anxiety within the walls of Buckingham Palace, given that the British royal family will only discover what it contains when the rest of the world does.

Netflix strategically dropped its promotional material last week during the Liz Garbus-directed show, promising a no-holds-barred deep dive into the lives of the royal family, complete with explosive detail.

In the latest trailer, Prince Harry reflects on how life has changed since the couple decided to step down from their royal duties in 2020, saying: “It’s really hard to look back now and say, ‘What happened?'”

The trailer then flashes back through the years to remind viewers that Meghan was initially heralded as “a real rock star” before “everything changed.”

“There is a family hierarchy. You know, there are leaks, but stories are also planted,” the duke says over archive footage of the Windsor clan gathered on the famous balcony of Buckingham Palace as ominous music plays in the background. “It’s a dirty game.”

The trailer also sees Harry connect his wife’s experience with the media with the experience of his mother, Princess Diana, and sister-in-law, Catherine, which he describes as “intense media coverage.”

Previously, in a minute ahead —which was released during the trip of the new prince and princess of Wales to Boston— an appetite for the series had been whetted. In it, a sequence of photos of the Sussexes in public and private moments suggested a more intimate view of the couple.

“Nobody sees what goes on behind closed doors,” says Harry. “I had to do everything possible to protect my family.”

Meghan later adds: “When the stakes are so high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

Buckingham Palace has yet to comment on the series, but there will surely be internal talks about what might be revealed.

In their two-hour primetime Oprah special that was released last year, the Sussexes accused the royal family of racism and deceit. The meeting was compared to the Princess Diana’s explosive 1995 interview with the BBCand the couple’s latest offering will likely prove just as controversial.

In the past, the late Queen Elizabeth II has acknowledged in several statements the pressure Harry and Meghan were facing, but has avoided getting involved in any kind of public spat with her grandson.

However, it remains to be seen if the new monarch, King Carlos III, will choose to respond to the accusations of his son and daughter-in-law.

The decision to include still photographs of a steel-faced Princess of Wales in both trailers has sparked some comment online. How the image of her is actually used on the show will be closely examined inside the palace. Prince William is known to be fiercely protective of his wife, and if he feels she’s been unfairly criticized on the show, she’s more likely to call the Sussexes.

Harry and Meghan remained silent about the Netflix series on Tuesday night, when they appeared in new york to accept an award for her work on racial justice and mental health. The couple stopped briefly on the event’s blue carpet to pose for photographers before heading inside.
