Our country has agreed on additional quantities of 1 million of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Doses will arrive between March and June. This was announced by the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov in Varna, where he started the work of the latest generation of computed tomography at the Sveta Marina Hospital in Varna.
The Minister of Health also commented that he was angry that the topic of vaccines was already beginning to be used politically. Prof. Angelov assured that the second doses, all vaccinated with the first, are kept and will be made.
It is not clear when the so-called “green corridors” for vaccination against coronavirus of willing patients will work again, after it turned out that AstraZeneca significantly limits their supplies of the drug, Angelov said.
“I can’t make a commitment because the result is not up to us. We do the work without the bartender,” he said.
Now, in the end, instead of the promised over 142,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine by the end of February, less than 53,000 will come, and it is not clear exactly when. Angelov attacked the company again, calling its actions “corporate reactions” and fearing that “a media campaign could be launched” against him.
In the presence of vaccines, mass vaccination will be resumed immediately.
Can we import the Russian Sputnik V vaccine? “The country is part of the EU, the EU is examining the documentation at EMA level. We are waiting for the decision of the European experts, then comes the decision of the EC for authorization for use. When this happens we are ready to order doses from there,” Angelov said.
In recent days there is an increased demand for hospitalization of patients, admitted Prof. Angelov. But there are places in hospitals, the minister assured. There is pressure mostly in Kyustendil, followed by Shumen and Sofia.
The new equipment will expand the possibilities for diagnosing cardiovascular and brain diseases, as well as for examining lung function.
The Minister thanked everyone who works at the hospital. He pointed out that this is the medical institution that took in the largest number of patients with COVID-19 in Northeastern Bulgaria.
