BVB – Uli Hoeneß saw the separation from Marco Rose coming: An “explosive mixture” right from the start

The reason for this was Edin Terzic’s successes last season, explained Uli Hoeneß.

Terzic took over BVB in December 2020 and, despite a difficult starting position, still led them to the Champions League. He achieved even greater success in the DFB Cup: There, under Terzic, the team won the fifth cup in the club’s history. Dortmund beat RB Leipzig 4-1 in the final.

Despite the success, the BVB managers took Marco Rose from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Terzic became technical director. Although Rose led the club to second place in the league, the season was otherwise disappointing: Round of 16 in the DFB Cup against FC St. Pauli, only third place in the Champions League group stage – and failed in the Europa League BVB already in the intermediate round at the later finalist Glasgow Rangers.

Hoeneß assumes that Rose’s predecessor will also be his successor. “Edin Terzic will be the legitimate successor. He’s been in the starting blocks for a relatively long time,” said the Honorary President of FC Bayern and praised the 41-year-old: “He proved at the end of last season that he can lead the team well . I think a lot of him.”

Hoeneß: “Terzic will have the support of the fans”

Hoeneß also sees another advantage for Terzic over Rose: “He will certainly have the great support of the fans. Rose didn’t have that much from the start because Terzic had good success at the end of the season.”

There was no official statement from BVB on Friday about the suddenly open trainer question. One Reinstall Terzic has not only been considered probable since the statements by Uli Hoeneß.
