Canadian Public Health Warns Against Relaxation of Measures | COVID-19 | News | The right

LNew long-term predictions, taking into account new, more contagious variants, show a surge in cases as early as March and the curve could even overtake the second wave in April in most provinces if measures are relaxed.

For now, the number of cases associated with the original strain is on the decline across the country.

In contrast, variants were detected in all provinces and five of them identified community transmission. There are 664 cases of the strain first identified in the United Kingdom, 39 cases of the variant first identified in South Africa and a single case of the variant first identified in Brazil.

Public health administrators point out that these variants can be 50% more transmissible than the initial strain and can spread like a forest fire.
