Actor Lee Jung-jae presented his first directing film, ‘The Hunt,’ at the Cannes Film Festival.
It is a spy action film with a friend of 30 years and fellow actor Jung Woo-sung.
Reporter Hyo-Jeong Park heard how it feels to be invited to the world’s most prestigious film festival as a director rather than an actor.

Actor Lee Jung-jae, who became a global star with ‘Squid Game’, was invited to the 75th Cannes Film Festival with his first film ‘The Hunt’.
“I’m here for the first time as a director, and moreover, today is my first premiere, so I’m very nervous.”
The spy action movie ‘The Hunt’ tells the story of the secret service agents Park Pyong-ho and Kim Jeong-do, who are suspicious of each other in order to find a hidden spy in the organization, while they are engaged in an important assassination operation.
In the midst of cool action such as fighting and gunfight, the psychological warfare between two people who suspect each other as spies is tightly unfolded.
“I also thought that there would be a great spy movie in Korea. I wanted to work with (Jung Woo-sung), so I started writing a story about a structure with two main actors.”
It’s been 23 years since I met fellow actor Jung Woo-sung in the same work as ‘There Is No Sun’.
The fact that two people, each of whom are brand of Korean films, met, was enough topical, and the burden was great as well.
“I think it was more intense and demanding than any other scene because I had greed and thought that it should be a plausible and wonderful film beyond the meaning of (the two met).”
‘The Hunt’, which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival’s Midnight Screening and premiered for the first time, filled the audience and received a standing ovation. It will be released in Korea in August.
