Carolina Arias out of the Women’s Copa América 2022 | Conmebol disaffected a Colombian player | Colombia selection

After The Colombian National Team will qualify for the semifinal of the Copa América Femenina 2022by thrashing Chile 4-0 and finishing first in group A, Conmebol had a strong punishment for the player Carolina Arias.

The 31-year-old defender was disaffected of the Selection by order of Conmebol, which notified the Colombian Football Federation of the decision, despite the fact that between organizations they had been working on an administrative issue to solve the issue. Nevertheless, the soccer player will no longer be able to be part of the competition continental.

In a sad message posted on her Instagram account, Carolina Arias confirmed that he was out of the 2022 Copa América.

With great pain and sadness I officially communicate that my competitive part in the Copa América 2022 ended, this by opinion of Conmebol, where by decisions of third parties I was affected. I am certain that the people I was in charge of never acted with malicious intent. For my part, I did my best and worked tirelessly to give my 100% in each match, it is a very short tournament and unfairly I will not be able to play the matches for which I have prepared so much,” Arias wrote, in a devastating publication.

“I thank and stressed that I continue to have the support of the Colombian Football Federation, the coaching staff and each of my teammates. I will continue with the team, but outside of the official matches of this event, I will continue to give them joy, work and competition in each training session because that is who I am. It’s still my dream to be a champion of the Copa América and I know we will achieve it, from the stands I will be cheering, applauding, praying and shouting every goal of my team”, added the Valle del Cauca.

Why did Carolina Arias leave the Women’s Copa América?

The defender had a covid-19 infection days before Colombia’s debut against Paraguay. Thus, Arias was isolated and ruled out for that first game.

However, the health protocol indicates that, due to this positive, the player had to comply with a seven-day isolation. When the fifth day of that isolation was completed, the Federation carried out new tests and Arias came out negative, for which the National Team’s medical staff authorized the player to act against Bolivia.

Conmebol realized what happened last Friday and suspended Carolina’s accreditation, arguing that she had breached health protocols.

The Colombian Football Federation appealed Conmebol’s decision the previous Saturday, with the documentation to show that the player had already overcome covid-19. However, the answer was negative and the footballer was disaffected this Wednesday, July 20.
