Carrefour, Delhaize, Colruyt, even UberEats and Deliveroo: here is our big comparison of races delivered to your home

Some had discovered the service during the first confinement, seeing in home shopping delivery a way of avoiding the endless queues in front of supermarkets. But the service has been around for much longer and is still gaining more followers. Coluryt, which has long remained in the background, launched its offer this week, considered somewhat expensive by some users.

So, is having your groceries delivered really a luxury? A brief overview of the different offers on the market.

In addition, this service guarantees you your preferred time slot and you also get free products. Minimum order: €60.

Collect and Go

How it works ? You make your purchases online and the employees prepare your order from the distribution center in Londerzeel. You then choose the delivery option, by employees of the brand or by an individual living near you who will take care of bringing your purchases back to you. Delivery is possible from Monday to Saturday,

For who ? The delivery service carried out by Colruyt employees is currently only possible in Brussels and Antwerp. The Drivers system, involving private individuals living around the delivery area, is available in Halle, Bruges, Ghent, Hasselt, Liège, Roeselare, Wavre, Antwerp, Louvain and Namur.

How much does it cost ? Order preparation costs €5.95 and delivery costs €7, for a total of €12.95. Minimum order: €100. Like the other distributors, Colruyt announces that actions will be taken to offer delivery with the purchase of certain products. Preparation fees are offered with the purchase of certain products.

Ultra-fast but far from profitable

Need groceries within the hour? Competition rages and wreaks havoc.

Ultra-fast food delivery is growing, but is not currently a profitable model. The Gorillas company has also just closed its Belgian branches, however resuming some service by ensuring the delivery, in Brussels, of eFamrz orders before soon extending its service to Antwerp. Gorillas was experiencing real growth, but struggling to break even. The German company will now focus on markets where growth offers the prospect of one day becoming a major and profitable player. DingDong, active in Ixelles, offers a similar service, guaranteeing delivery in just 10 to 15 minutes. But the service also remains limited to a few districts. Deliveroo and UberEats have also rushed into the market to ensure their profitability. Carrefour also offers, via ShipTo, delivery in less than 90 minutes.

UberEats

How it works ? For several months now, UberEats has not been content to deliver restaurant meals. In its grocery section, there are many convenience stores (Carrefour Express, grocery stores, night-shops, etc.) As for ordering a dish, all you have to do is select a store in the application and make your purchases there. Delivery is usually made in 15 to 30 minutes.

For who ? Delivery is available wherever UberEats service is available.

How much does it cost ? The service is intended for troubleshooting purchases and is billed at €4.99.

Deliveroo

How it works ? Like UberEats, Deliveroo has added a “shopping” tab to its app. Just click on it to see which nearby businesses offer delivery of their products. There is essentially the same offer as at its competitor, namely local supermarkets, grocery stores and night-shops.

For who ? Deliveroo and Uber working with delivery people, mostly by bike, the service is offered within a limited radius, where their service is located.

How much does it cost ? Just like having your pizza or any other dish delivered to you, the delivery costs are €4.99. Some businesses impose a minimum order.

Ship To

How it works ? Launched in 2018 by Carrefour, Ship To works with its own couriers, who do your shopping and deliver it to you, all in less than 90 minutes. To order, simply go through the ShipTo application and select a store located within a radius of +/- 4 km. Then shop and place an order. If a product is missing, your shopper will call you to find out if you want an alternative.

For who ? The service is currently offered in Ghent, Brussels, Liège and Antwerp.

How much does it cost ? The big advantage is to benefit from the same prices as in store. There are no order preparation costs and delivery costs €5. Until the end of the year, delivery is free for all orders of at least €75. Ship To also works with Rob, under the same conditions, but with a minimum order of €130 to benefit from free delivery.

Frichti

How it works ? Born 7 years ago in France, Frichti adopts a model similar to the giants Deliveroo and UberEats, but focused on the delivery of fresh, local and local prepared products and meals. The service is available 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. To order, you have to go through the application (or the website). There is an offer of meals and products typical of supermarkets, but with a number of references that are sometimes very limited. During our test, beef lovers had the choice between a piece of flank steak… or nothing. For the pork, it was knack sausages or pulled pork. A little limited then.

For who ? The offer remains limited to certain municipalities of Brussels and Frichti also relies heavily on delivery to companies.

How much does it cost ? Apart from the fact that the products are quite expensive, the delivery costs range from €1.50 to €3.99 for the fastest option, in 20 minutes.
