Cases of adenovirus infection across Hanoi

According to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), now is the changing season, so it is a time when adenovirus is easy to occur, so it is necessary to strengthen surveillance and disease prevention in the near future.

Recently, the CDC in Hanoi sent an official dispatch to city district and village health centers to strengthen surveillance, prevention and control of diseases caused by adenovirus.

Accordingly, according to a recent report from the Central Children’s Hospital, the situation of children infected with adenovirus in Hanoi has been increasing rapidly since last August.

Specifically, this medical facility has recorded more than 1,000 cases since the beginning of the year. Three of them died after being tested and treated at the hospital.

In Hanoi, patients infected with adenovirus were distributed in all districts of District 30/District 30. Among them, Long Bien (147), Hadong (87), Nam Tu Liem (82), and Hoang Mai (75) recorded high infection rates.

The Hanoi CDC believes the weather in the region is entering a turning point. This is a favorable condition for the occurrence and spread of respiratory diseases including adenovirus.

Therefore, the Hanoi CDC recommends that each unit continuously strengthen monitoring and case detection activities for communities, clinics, and private hospitals for the prevention and control of adenovirus outbreaks in the city.

Concentrate on the monitoring of hospital departments, pediatrics, and infectious disease departments, securing a minimum number of 3 or more times a week to collect information on the situation and treatment of patients infected with adenovirus coming to the clinic.

At the same time, it is necessary for medical facilities to strengthen their activities on the prevention and control of diseases caused by adenovirus, and focus on measures to prevent and control disease transmission, such as good personal hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and clean water and cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. In particular, personal items containing the patient’s secretions should not be shared with the patient.

On the other hand, it is necessary to systematize epidemiological investigation and treatment activities as soon as case groups are recorded in the local community and school. In accordance with regulations, a monthly reporting system on the number of cases and deaths will be implemented in the online reporting system.
