It makes it harder for some writers to find backing for trans-inclusive stories, regardless on the actual message. There’s a fear of backlash, I believe. But simultaneously occurring, I think some directors and producers are more committed than ever to telling diverse stories. It’s a mixed bag, to be honest.

Archyde: As an actor, have you personally experienced any of this pushback, or conversely, have you felt supported?

Anya Sharma: I’ve been incredibly supported. I’ve worked with several amazing actors and crew who are strongly supportive. We have frank, often intense conversations on set, but those conversations are vital for growth. I’m incredibly grateful for that.
