What a horror debut!
João Félix (23) only switched to Chelsea on Wednesday for eleven million euros on loan from Atlético Madrid.
Just one day later he made his first appearance for the “Blues” in the Premier League – and saw red!
What happened: 1-1 with Fulham, the Portuguese international met Kenny Tete in the 58th minute with an open-soled tackle at knee level. The referee draws the red card.
How bitter!
Troubled Chelsea ultimately lost the game 2-1. Former “Blues” star Willian (25th) and Carlos Vinicius (73rd) made the victory clear for Fulham, Kalidou Koulibaly (47th) provided the only goal for coach Graham Potter’s team (47th).
The coach after the game on the dismissal of newcomer Félix: “It’s another blow, the hits are coming all the time at the moment. We suffer. It was a tackle by a forward, there was no malice involved, but I understand why there was a red. He was really good, you could see his quality in the game, so it’s doubly disappointing for us.”
That would be spectacular…

Chelsea are currently tenth in the English league, ten points behind a place in the Champions League. The record of the past games: one win from eight competitive games.
Potter, who surprisingly inherited ex-Bundesliga coach Thomas Tuchel (49) in September, is increasingly being criticized.
Winter additions should now bring the needed boost!
In addition to Félix – who had only extended his contract with Atlético until 2027 – Chelsea also signed defender Benoit Badiashile (21), midfielder Andrey Santos (18) and attacker David Datro Fofana (20) for 62.5 million euros in January.
On Sunday, the “Blues” have to play against Crystal Palace at home (from 3 p.m here in the SPORT BILD live ticker) – a win seems to be mandatory.
