The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers now know which jerseys they’ll wear at Super Bowl LIV in Miami.

The 49ers will wear their traditional away kit consisting of white jersey and gold pants. The Chiefs, the designated home team, will wear red jerseys.

It was assumed that the 49ers would want to wear their throwback jerseys from 1994, as they did in week 17 of the regular season.

Who decides which jersey to wear?

The designated home team can choose a jersey in the Super Bowl. The home right in the Super Bowl changes annually between the conferences. Last year the NFC’s Los Angeles Rams chose to wear their blue and yellow jerseys, and so the New England Patriots played in white.

San Francisco has played six Super Bowls, and the 49ers won the previous two in which they wore white jerseys and gold pants. The Chiefs have already appeared twice in the Super Bowl and wore the red color for their only win.
