Chile exceeds 14,000 cases daily and has already accumulated 2 million infections in almost 2 years of pandemic | National

This Tuesday, Chile exceeded the barrier of 2 million infections with covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, that distant March 2020. No region has a positivity rate of less than 10% and six of them are above 20%, with Magallanes and its 34% leading the table. With 14,291 new cases, the total number of patients in the active stage of the disease rose to 67,018.

This Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Health (Minsal) reported the detection of 14,291 new cases of covid-19 in Chile, of which 8,485 were classified as symptomatic.

With the result of the day, the Total infections so far in the pandemic reached 2,001,346.

The figure also raised the total number of patients in the active stage of the disease from 66,738 to 67,018.

It is the fourth time that Chile marks over 14 thousand diagnoses newspapers, after the record marked yesterday Monday (14.780).

In line with Minsal estimates, the pandemic had a variation of 314% in two weeks.

These same ones showed that only one region decreased its new cases in the last week.

“Of the 14,291 new cases, 23% are diagnosed by antigen tests, 34% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 15% of those notified are asymptomatic,” they indicated from the Minsal.

By region, the highest incidence rate is found in Arica and Parinacota, with 1,337.1 Active infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

In second place was Magallanes (1,004.7) and third Tarapacá (970.8).

Positivity, ICU and deaths

For its part, the National PCR positivity was set at 15.82% after the study of 69,891 exams in 134 laboratories.

Of the country, six regions exceeded the 20% threshold, with Magallanes leading the list (34.47%).

The lowest positivities were recorded in Atacama (10.20%) and Maule (10.73%).

The balance of the day established that the ICU occupancy is currently at 85.51%.

There are 411 patients hospitalized for covid-19, of which 306 are seriously ill and connected to mechanical ventilation (74.45%).

Meanwhile, the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS) added eight deaths, with which the total number of deaths linked to the disease rose to 39,543.
