Izkia Siches: “We have a problem with Bolivia”

This week, the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, referred to these figures indicating that the Government “is going to expel all the people who comply with the judicial expulsions, but it is also going to actively carry out administrative expulsions.”

On the occasion, he acknowledged that there were a few administrative expulsions of migrants and that the vast majority are judicial.

“In the previous government, 176 occurred on this same date, despite the fact that there was a larger request, and we have already materialized 587 (judicial expulsions),” he indicated.

Siches also said that “Indeed, we have a problem with Bolivia, because the renewals are not happening”.

“It is not just a matter of political will, but we need bilateral conditions, and for that, the chancellor has been actively working in the meetings with Mercosur,” he added.

It should be noted that President Gabriel Boric assured this Sunday that he had “made significant progress” in bilateral relations between Chile and Bolivia, after meeting in Colombia with the Bolivian president, Luis Arce.

“We have made significant progress in our bilateral relations, our integration and issues that concern our compatriots such as migration and cooperation between our countries,” said Boric from Bogotá.
